# Product Owner interview practice — Backlog Academy

Prepare a specific example for each question: context, your decision, evidence, result and what you learned. An honest small example is stronger than an invented achievement.

1. What customer problem did you choose not to solve, and why?
2. How would you check whether an urgent stakeholder request creates value?
3. Describe a prioritisation decision in which the highest-scoring item did not go first.
4. How do you turn a vague request into an observable outcome?
5. What is the smallest useful slice of a feature you have worked on?
6. Tell us about an assumption that evidence forced you to change.
7. How would you resolve competing needs from engineering, sales and support?
8. What makes an acceptance criterion testable without prescribing the implementation?
9. Which metric could improve while the product becomes worse for its users?
10. How do you decide whether a released feature should be expanded, changed or stopped?
11. When should a Product Owner ask for help rather than make the decision alone?
12. Show one artifact from your portfolio. Explain its weakest part and how you would improve it.

These questions are practice prompts, not a promise that an employer will ask them or offer a role.
