Terms of service
Version: 2026-10-07
Backlog Academy is a self-paced, practical Product Owner learning program. These terms govern use of the platform and your relationship with the service provider.
The service and certificate
The program contains 28 modules, English and Hungarian lessons and audio, assignments, AI feedback and stakeholder simulations. Seven selected pieces of your own work form the final portfolio. Assignment requirements and evaluation criteria are available in the course.
The completion certificate is issued privately by Backlog Academy. It is not a university degree, state-recognised qualification or credential from another professional body. We do not guarantee employment, income or recognition by an employer.
Account and purchase
You need an accessible email address. Clerk manages sign-in. Access is personal: account sharing, bypassing platform controls and unauthorised use of other people's data are not permitted.
Payment takes place on Polar's checkout. The final product, currency, price, applicable tax, billing details and any recurring charge are shown before you pay. The buyer terms shown there also apply to the payment transaction. Academy does not store card details. Creating an order alone does not grant paid access; provider confirmation is required.
Access and subscriptions
The one-time program purchase provides one year of platform access from the payment-related access start. Modules open when their prerequisites and displayed release time are satisfied. Learning is self-paced, with no mandatory live attendance.
The one-time purchase does not automatically become a subscription. A separately selected monthly or annual continuing membership may renew as shown at checkout. You can cancel renewal in billing settings, where the cancellation and remaining access are displayed. Check the current plan's contents before purchasing.
AI feedback and human support
AI evaluates submitted text against the assignment criteria and can make mistakes. A simulated stakeholder is not a real customer or colleague. The interface shows evaluation results and usage limits. Do not submit trade secrets, sensitive personal data or material you are not authorised to use.
Borderline final reviews are referred to a human mentor. You may also ask questions or contest another evaluation by contacting Gábor Halmosi at gabor@backlog.hu. We assess the submitted work and the applicable criteria.
Your work, publication and intellectual property
You retain rights in your own submissions. You permit the storage, display and assessment necessary to provide the service as described in the privacy notice. Course materials are licensed for your personal learning; unauthorised resale or republication is not permitted.
Your portfolio is private by default. You decide whether to publish it and must check that shared work contains no third-party confidential information. Certificate verification displays the information necessary to verify the credential. Data export and account deletion are available in settings.
Withdrawal, refunds and remedies
Our voluntary guarantee provides an automatic refund when requested within 14 days of purchase and fewer than two modules are complete. See the refund policy for details. This guarantee does not replace or restrict mandatory consumer withdrawal, conformity or other remedy rights.
We do not assume loss of a digital-content withdrawal right merely because you registered or opened a lesson. Such a loss can arise only when the applicable legal conditions and required prior declarations are satisfied. Requests outside the automatic guarantee can be reviewed at gabor@backlog.hu; a statutory claim is not rejected solely because of the number of completed modules.
Operation, changes and complaints
A current browser and internet access are required. Reading, listening and browsing work on mobile; some production tasks require a desktop. The interface shows save status. Maintenance and provider outages may temporarily interrupt access; recovery tools help preserve work in progress.
We will give advance notice of material changes affecting a purchased service. These terms do not exclude mandatory consumer protections or claims relating to a paid service. If misuse requires a restriction, we provide its reason and a way to contact us.
Send complaints to the email or postal address below. Written consumer complaints are answered within the applicable statutory period. Hungarian law applies without depriving consumers of mandatory protections applicable to them. Consumers may also contact their competent conciliation body or court.
